English or Malay?

28 July, 2009

Teaching of Science and Mathematics in English was scrapped by government and will take effect in a couple of years from now. My reaction is 'Yes' and 'No'

Yes because it will create a level playing field between rural and city students. Rural/ kampung school are at disadvantages since they have no access to good English teachers and lack of accomodating environment to English. This is the fact. The matter get worse when the teacher itself lack good command of English. Instead, they get more confused with the subjects. The subject of addition and subtraction which should be an easy topic turn to be a very complex matters.

No because we cannot run away from English. English is the language of business world. English is the language of competition, language of knowledge, language of ............ .....everythings! Accept the fact if we want to compete side by side with others in the business world, we need to have good command of English.

I hope the decision will not put a brake on English teachings. English teaching should be intensified and more hours should be added in the time table. More and good quality of English teachers should be produced.

Aku dulu english tak tau apa satu, hampeeh. Yang aku tau yes, no, sorry!pls teacher may I go out... nak pi tandas le. Tingkatan 5 masuk projek baru. Ini bukan calang calang punya projek, cikgu yg ajar english wak mai dari U.K nama Kevin al 'cepua'. Habih kami masa tu slang U.K.

Mula mula masuk TOEFL score 320, passing utk US university at least 700. selepas 4 bulan TOEFL score 780 cun cun untuk masuk KPP/ITM Subang Jaya. Fikir balik memang tak masuk akal, 4 bulan pencapaian cukup mendadak! English! English! Sepatah perkataan melayu, kena denda 10 sen. Minggu pertama saja aku kena denda $5, banyak tuu. Aku masih ingat lagi teacher kelas intensif aku Mdm Lim kata, "you will master the English when you speak English in your dream..." I miss you madam, you taught English from your heart. Tapi setahu aku sampai sekarang pun dalam mimpi masih lagi cakap melayu.

My Playground

25 July, 2009

Motorcross track owned by Kelab Permotoran Dan Rekreasi Pulau Pisang is my playground. The track is designed specially for motorcross with steep slope and narrow cornering but I found it nice for mountain biking. My limit is always challenged when I start pedalling on this track, never get bored and a lot of new things can be learned here. I fully support the peoples behind this project and this kind of activities should be encouraged especially to the younger generation. Other fellow mountainbikers are most welcome to test this track and the only drawback of this track is small space.

UUM XC 2009 Review

19 July, 2009

....ni dia baru jumpa gambar dok tengah duduk minum, ambik dari blog Gerek Gunung

Overall I'm quite satisfied with my performance in this race. I'm able to compete effectively and put myself in the middle of the group considering this is my first race. My machine is superb. Smooth transition and clean braking forces effectively delivers raw power side by side with other expensive machines. The 2.0 tire with motorcross pattern fits perfectly in this muddy and wet condition. Shimano deore drivetrain never dissapoints me, inexpensive but get the job done. I have no complaint at all.

The trail is excellent with 95% rideble... the only problem is me......MTB mai tolak basikal. .....Next year ride???..will think about it.....

My Anniversary of Cycling

14 July, 2009

Masing masing kepala nampak bintang, peluh seram sejuk- nak pitam le tu.... maklumlah baru belajar panjat bukit he ne ...

Walaupun matahari cukup cerah waktu tu, tapi bila tengok sekeliling nampak gelap macam nak hujan.

Inspiring True Story

10 July, 2009

Again, an e-mail blinking at my workstation. Clicking and it's coming from my boss. Ooh! this time not about work, something else...positive thinking... some sorts of it. May be lately I tried very hard to be positive in my thinking even I had to say thank you for knocking my car to someone who carelessly reversed his motorbike and hit my car's side mirror. The magnet keep attracting the +ve elements....

ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible because there in the front row, slumped in his seat was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he dit not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant. It got the point where Mrs Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big 'F' at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is bright child with ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners..he is a joy to be around..'

His second grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle.'

His third grade teacher wrote, 'His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest, and his home life will soon aaffect him if some steps aren't taken.'

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class.'

By now, Mrs Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Cristmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown grocery paper bag. Mrs Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbingsome of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to.'

After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching, reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her 'teacher's pet..'

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honours. He assured Mrs Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years and yet another letter came.. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer ... The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there.
You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr Stoddard whispered in Mrs Thompson's ear, 'Thank you Mrs Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference.'

Mrs Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, 'Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you.'

(For info, Teddy Stoddard is the Doctor at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing)

Warm someone's heart today......
Just try to make difference in someone's life today or tomorrow? just do it.....

UUM XC Race- Fine Tuning The Machine

04 July, 2009

Black Mamba No 12 is prepared for the worst. A front V-brake is replaced with hidro disc brake for better braking forces. Notices that the rear brake still using the V system to reduce some weight. I was told that the UUM track involves a lot of red soil trail which will get worst should the rain fall prior to the event. I still maintain the front tyre size 1.9 but will change the rear from 1.9 to 2.0 to give better traction control during cornering and downhill.

I hope there will be no rain prior to the event. The machine is set by taking the mid point of the conditions.

Looking forward to see fellow pedallers from all sort of places.

Health Tips- Eating Fruits

02 July, 2009

A couple of days ago I received an e-mail about eating fruits. Interesting. This is what friends are for. Keep reminding us about a good habits. Keep sharing with us about good things.

We all think eating fruits means just buying fruits, cutting it and just popping it into our mouths. It's not as easy as you think. It's important to know how and when to eat.

What is the correct way of eating fruits?

IT MEANS NOT EATING FRUITS AFTER YOUR MEALS! FRUITS SHOULD BE EATEN ON AN EMPTY STOMACH.

If you eat fruit like that, it will play a major role to detoxify your system, supplying you with a great deal of energy for weight loss and other life activities.

Why can't we eat fruits on a full stomach? When we eat our meal, in the intestines the whole meal rots and ferments and turns into acid. The minute the fruit comes into contact with the food in the stomach and digestive juices, the entire mass of food begins to spoil. The fruit mixes with other food and produces gas and hence you will bloat!

There is no such thing as some fruits like orange and lemon are acidic, because all fruits become alkaline in our body (according to Dr Herbert Shelton). If you have mastered the correct way of eating fruits, you have the secret of beauty, longevity, health, happiness and slimliness.

Starting from today, I'm going to practice this secret.........
