Kayuh Sokmo- Super Thrill Trail

28 February, 2011

On 27 February 2011, Jeli, Kelantan a cool and windy town located in mountainous area of Banjaran Titiwangsa was heated up with about 850 riders participated in Jeli MTB Jamboree or Kayuh Sokmo Jeli.

Thumps up to the organizer of Jeli Jamboree 2011. Operations side need some improvement but that was only small matters.  What was more important, the organizer really knew the in and out of true mountainbiking. They really knew what Jeli can offered- the full adrenalin trail of excitement.

The trail definitely not for the beginners. It was full of actions which required advance skills of handling and training. The trail covered every aspect of areas including technical ride, endurance and mental. The trail is in our top lists so far for this year. From scale of 1-5 stars, I  chooses 6 because it exceeds expectation. Eventhough we had traveled far from Jitra to Jeli, we drove back with full satisfaction.

The Real Test

19 February, 2011

Leave behind the theory, the real test what matters. As we always ride deep inside the jungle and hilly areas, we are always exposed to various risks and unwanted things. The main question, are we able to bring out the riders inside the deep hilly areas in time in case of accident? Again, are we able to mobilize the personel and assets in time? 'In time' is very important because 'out of time' will make things different.

Today eleven riders took part exploring the aggressive CP3 trail. Everybody were so fresh and excited to complete the trail. Unfortunately, one of the riders fall off the bike and seriously injured in one of the downhill. Thanks to every riders who had demonstrated professional attitude. Everybody knew their role. We had despatched 2 riders to quickly ride out of the jungle to get help. A rubber tappers offered their motorbike to bring out the injured rider. At the same time, SOS SMS was sent out to reach a network of Jitra Riders in Jitra. Within 20 minutes, Cikgu Wan of Red Flag came with 4WD and went through the logging trail to reach the place of incident. Badrisyam also who happened to ride near the area stanby with his car at the main road. The rider was safely brought out and sent for treatment.

Thank to every riders in Jitra for the high commitment shown. "United We Win, Divided We Fall".

Koh Lipeh- The Treasure of Andaman

07 February, 2011

Satun -Langu - Pak Bhara -Koh Lipeh

Date: 3, 4 & 5 February, 2011
Started from Wang Kelian, Perlis and rode until Pak Bhara, Satun Province Thailand with distance of 95 KM one way. Then, took feri from Pak Bhara to Koh Lipeh "The Maldives of Andaman".

Total riders: 4 'unsounded' bicycles

Koh mean island in Thai. Koh Lipeh is heaven for anglers and scuba divers but of course not for cycling. It is a very small island gazetted as marine park consists of several islands including Koh Adang and Koh Rawi. Koh lipeh has two beautiful beach i.e sun 'up' beach and sun 'down' beach. Everythings here are simple even the choice of words. There are no 5 star hotel here, only small chalet with bamboo wall and nipah roof. Be prepared to pay more than double the price for air cond room because electricity here very expensive. Even the ferry fare from Pak Bhara to Koh Lipeh cost TB900 (RM90)two way.

Inside ferry cargo deck on the way to the island

Ready for transit with 'bot pancung' to the Lipeh beach which cost another TB50 (RM5).

Touch down at the island

This island rules by raggae. Loosen up yourself. Don't worry be happy. Makes things simple. Integrate youself with the locals and environment. Thanks to Abang Ronn who willing to share his years of touring expertise with us. Not many people want to do that. Very good leader and mentor to us.
