Sorotan 2011

26 December, 2011

Hard Tail or Full Suspension

15 November, 2011

There are two important criteria that need to be answered before you choose to migrate from hard tail to full suspension bike.

Know your riding preference
What is your riding parameter that you enjoy most?First, are you more incline on cross country ride which is fast and less technical? Second, are you more incline on trail riding which are more technical and manouverability?

If the answer for the first is yes, then you should stick to hardtail. If the second question is yes, you should consider full suspension bike. However, if the answer for both questions above is YES, you should consider HARDTAIL.

Why HARDTAIL?
Because hardtail is versatile. You can live in both world. But remember my word. It is better you upgrade your hardtail to the maximum rather than buying the full suspension at the minimum. Confused?? Let me elaborate. You can get a very good hartail at around RM5K, so don't buy a full suspension bike for a price less than RM5K.

If you don't agree with me, then you can buy both model but only if you have a good budget.

Aidil Fitri Greeting

08 September, 2010

New Roaring Year Message From Gerek Baru

11 February, 2010

Gerek Baru wish all our friends, associates, followers, readers, supporters and every MTB communities and all Malaysian a happy and prosperous new year.....Gong Xi Fa Chai.

The economy shows some sign of recovery but at a modest rate. There will be no more pump primming from the government. For those who like stock market, forget about construction and manufacturing sector. Focus more on banking, utility, oil/gas and plantation. Of all, banking is my favorite and any counter is considered good. Banking stocks are the first to move substantially in any economic recovery. Watch up for Alliance, RHBcap, AMMB and Affin. Don't close your eyes on EONCap, a target takeover and improved balance sheet, income and every ratio shows an improvement.

The economy this year will be driven by private sector and mostly by the new enterpreneurs in food/staples products and specialized/niche/IT/Brain related. Forget about low cost mass manufacturing which are finding too costly to operate here.

If you want to venture into business, choose leisure/sport/health related business. Most malaysian are becoming health conscious and have more money to spend on leisure. Air Asia will have a brisk sales this year because more people will travel and holidays. Do watch Air Asia stock too. Bicycle shops too must stock up their inventory this year because more Malaysian will opt for cycling because it is seen as healthy.

Prinsip Pembahagian Kemakmuran

15 August, 2009

Hasad dengki jauh sekali.

In Memory of My Late Sister

Almost every year when Ramadhan is coming, my feeling get excited since this is the time I feel so close to the Almighty. This also the time I reassess my works for the whole year. Is it what I have done enough to be considered a good servant? Definitely I have a long way to go. I'm working on it.

Ramadhan also will bring back memory of my late sister who already left us 11 years ago in 1998... Al Fatihah, may Allah bless you and put you among assolihah. She got into coma because of excessive bleeding when delivering her baby boy. Her baby was saved and raised by my mother and already 11 years old.

My late sister left a big impact in my life. She is strong, big hearted, motivated, caring, .....everythings. She managed to persuade my father to buy her a motorbike scrambler Yamaha Enduro 125 in the 70's. Can we imagine a girl rode a scrambler in that time. She got married to a very successful businessman (now ) in Alor Setar. Her last posting was at SMK Keat Hwa. Among other schools she taught were SMK Sultanah Asma and SMK Tunku Abdul Rahman Mergong. Today 15/8/09 her third daughter will get married in Alor Setar. I will get busy for this week.

.....I just can't go on writing....I feel..5 ,.f7j

English or Malay?

28 July, 2009

Teaching of Science and Mathematics in English was scrapped by government and will take effect in a couple of years from now. My reaction is 'Yes' and 'No'

Yes because it will create a level playing field between rural and city students. Rural/ kampung school are at disadvantages since they have no access to good English teachers and lack of accomodating environment to English. This is the fact. The matter get worse when the teacher itself lack good command of English. Instead, they get more confused with the subjects. The subject of addition and subtraction which should be an easy topic turn to be a very complex matters.

No because we cannot run away from English. English is the language of business world. English is the language of competition, language of knowledge, language of ............ .....everythings! Accept the fact if we want to compete side by side with others in the business world, we need to have good command of English.

I hope the decision will not put a brake on English teachings. English teaching should be intensified and more hours should be added in the time table. More and good quality of English teachers should be produced.

Aku dulu english tak tau apa satu, hampeeh. Yang aku tau yes, no, sorry!pls teacher may I go out... nak pi tandas le. Tingkatan 5 masuk projek baru. Ini bukan calang calang punya projek, cikgu yg ajar english wak mai dari U.K nama Kevin al 'cepua'. Habih kami masa tu slang U.K.

Mula mula masuk TOEFL score 320, passing utk US university at least 700. selepas 4 bulan TOEFL score 780 cun cun untuk masuk KPP/ITM Subang Jaya. Fikir balik memang tak masuk akal, 4 bulan pencapaian cukup mendadak! English! English! Sepatah perkataan melayu, kena denda 10 sen. Minggu pertama saja aku kena denda $5, banyak tuu. Aku masih ingat lagi teacher kelas intensif aku Mdm Lim kata, "you will master the English when you speak English in your dream..." I miss you madam, you taught English from your heart. Tapi setahu aku sampai sekarang pun dalam mimpi masih lagi cakap melayu.

Inspiring True Story

10 July, 2009

Again, an e-mail blinking at my workstation. Clicking and it's coming from my boss. Ooh! this time not about work, something else...positive thinking... some sorts of it. May be lately I tried very hard to be positive in my thinking even I had to say thank you for knocking my car to someone who carelessly reversed his motorbike and hit my car's side mirror. The magnet keep attracting the +ve elements....

ONE OF THE BEST STORIES I'VE EVER HEARD!

As she stood in front of her 5th grade class on the very first day of school, she told the children an untruth. Like most teachers, she looked at her students and said that she loved them all the same. However, that was impossible because there in the front row, slumped in his seat was a little boy named Teddy Stoddard.

Mrs Thompson had watched Teddy the year before and noticed that he dit not play well with the other children, that his clothes were messy and that he constantly needed a bath. In addition, Teddy could be unpleasant. It got the point where Mrs Thompson would actually take delight in marking his papers with a broad red pen, making bold X's and then putting a big 'F' at the top of his papers.

At the school where Mrs Thompson taught, she was required to review each child's past records and she put Teddy's off until last. However, when she reviewed his file, she was in for a surprise.

Teddy's first grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is bright child with ready laugh. He does his work neatly and has good manners..he is a joy to be around..'

His second grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is an excellent student, well liked by his classmates, but he is troubled because his mother has a terminal illness and life at home must be a struggle.'

His third grade teacher wrote, 'His mother's death has been hard on him. He tries to do his best, but his father doesn't show much interest, and his home life will soon aaffect him if some steps aren't taken.'

Teddy's fourth grade teacher wrote, 'Teddy is withdrawn and doesn't show much interest in school. He doesn't have many friends and sometimes sleeps in class.'

By now, Mrs Thompson realized the problem and she was ashamed of herself. She felt even worse when her students brought her Cristmas presents, wrapped in beautiful ribbons and bright paper, except for Teddy's. His present was clumsily wrapped in the heavy, brown grocery paper bag. Mrs Thompson took pains to open it in the middle of other presents. Some of the children started to laugh when she found a rhinestone bracelet with some stones missing, and a bottle that was one-quarter full of perfume. But she stifled the children's laughter when she exclaimed how pretty the bracelet was, putting it on, and dabbingsome of the perfume on her wrist. Teddy Stoddard stayed after school that day just long enough to say, "Mrs Thompson, today you smelled just like my Mom used to.'

After the children left, she cried for at least an hour. On that very day, she quit teaching, reading, writing and arithmetic. Instead, she began to teach children. Mrs Thompson paid particular attention to Teddy. As she worked with him, his mind seemed to come alive. The more she encouraged him, the faster he responded. By the end of the year, Teddy had become one of the smartest children in the class and, despite her lie that she would love all the children the same, Teddy became one of her 'teacher's pet..'

A year later, she found a note under her door, from Teddy, telling her that she was the best teacher he ever had in his whole life.

Six years went by before she got another note from Teddy. He then wrote that he had finished high school, third in his class, and she was still the best teacher he ever had in life.

Four years after that, she got another letter, saying that while things had been tough at times, he'd stayed in school, had stuck with it, and would soon graduate from college with the highest of honours. He assured Mrs Thompson that she was still the best and favorite teacher he had ever had in his whole life.

Then four more years and yet another letter came.. This time he explained that after he got his bachelor's degree, he decided to go a little further. The letter explained that she was still the best and favorite teacher he ever had. But now his name was a little longer ... The letter was signed, Theodore F. Stoddard, MD.

The story does not end there.
You see, there was yet another letter that spring. Teddy said he had met this girl and was going to be married. He explained that his father had died a couple of years ago and he was wondering if Mrs Thompson might agree to sit at the wedding in the place that was usually reserved for mother of the groom. Of course, Mrs Thompson did. And guess what? She wore that bracelet, the one with several rhinestones missing. Moreover, she made sure she was wearing the perfume that Teddy remembered his mother wearing on their last Christmas together.

They hugged each other, and Dr Stoddard whispered in Mrs Thompson's ear, 'Thank you Mrs Thompson for believing in me. Thank you so much for making me feel important and showing me that I could make a difference.'

Mrs Thompson, with tears in her eyes, whispered back. She said, 'Teddy, you have it all wrong. You were the one who taught me that I could make a difference. I didn't know how to teach until I met you.'

(For info, Teddy Stoddard is the Doctor at Iowa Methodist in Des Moines that has the Stoddard Cancer Wing)

Warm someone's heart today......
Just try to make difference in someone's life today or tomorrow? just do it.....

The 90/10 Principle

19 June, 2009

The 90/10 Principle
Author: Stephen Covey
Discover 90/10 Principle
it will change your life
(or at least the way you react to situations)
What is this principle?
10% of life is made up of what happens to you
.........90% of life is decided by how you react
I basically agree with this idea
What does this mean?
We really have no control over 10% of what happens to us.
-We cannot stop the car from breaking down
-The plane will be late arriving which throws our schedule off
-A driver may cut us off in the traffic
We have no control over this 10%
The other 90% is different. You determine the other 90%
How? ........ by your reaction
You are having a breakfast with your family
Your daughter knocks over a cup of coffee onto your business shirt
You have no control over what has just happened
What happens next will determine by your reaction......
You curse
You harshly scold your daughter for knocking the cup over
She breaks down in tears
After scolding her you turn to your wife and criticize her for placing the cup too close to the edge of table
A short verbal battle follows
You storm upstairs and change your shirt,
back downstairs, you find your daughter has been busy crying to finish her breakfast
and she misses the bus
Your spouse must leave immediately for work
You rush to the car and drive your daughter to school
Because you are late, you drive fast and is fined by the policeman.
After 15 min delay, you arrive at school
Your daughter runs into the building without saying goodbye
After arriving at the office 20 min late
You realize you forgot your briefcase
Your day has started terrible. As it continues, it seems to get worse and worse
You look forward to come home
When you arrive home, you find a small wedge in your relationship with your wife and daughter
Why?????
Because of how you react in the morning
Why did you have a bad day? Because you cause it
You had no control over what happened with the coffee
How you reacted in those 5 seconds is what caused your bad day
Next time, Choose your reaction, Think about your reaction
Can you just say to your daughter, "next time please be careful" and the whole scenario might be different.
